Ok I've decided to try and earn some easy money online doing surveys, clicking adverts and watching adverts. After a little research I decided to try some of the options which looked the most promising. Here's what I've found so far:
Surveys
I've been signed up for YouGov surveys for well over a year, it may be almost two years now, but I've never really taken it too serious. I'll do the odd survey that they invite me to and then I'll miss a few. Consequently I've yet to reach the minimum £50 payout level, I'm about half way there. Now that I'm trying to generate a little (or a lot) of extra cash I've decided to hunt out some other 'paid to take survey sites' and signed up to the ones which looked the most promising. I'm also going to take the YouGov surveys more seriously from now.
This system works by collecting information from you about your views on various topics from shopping habits to politics. There's usually a screening process and if you're not what they're looking for you'll not get to do the survey or get paid for your time. The surveys take around 15-20 minutes to complete.
Paid to click
I'm trying some 'paid to click' (PTC) websites and I'm already beginning to think these aren't worth the effort. I've been registered with two PTC sites for about a week now and have earned a whopping $0.15 combined (I don't know how much that is in English money but at a guess I'd say about 10p).
This is an easy thing to do. You're presented with a list of links to websites which you click, a timer makes you watch it for a few seconds then you get paid. It's usually around $0.001 per click and there's a limited number of clicks per day so it's going to take a lot of clicks and days to make a decent amount of money.
Paid to watch
I like this system it's easy and the site I use (getjam) pays 5p per view. The problem is there aren't enough paid adverts to watch. To get paid you simply click on the advert and watch it. They seem to range from 30 seconds to around 3 minutes long. I've been using 'getjam' for this for a while and have racked up a few quid so far.
Summary
My intention is to find out if this actually works and if the payouts are worth the time spent completing surveys, clicking links and watching adverts. My initial feeling is that despite the promises of wealth they advertise I'm unlikely to make much at all. But time will tell and if I do okay I'll let you know. If you have any ideas or know of any really good sites please let me know.
